Shopping List! | Tori via Generations Collective & her Top 10 Picks

One of my favorite pieces to the not-so-complicated StyleShaker puzzle would have to be the dynamic shopping lists. They are all hand-picked pieces living in the StyleShaker Closet, that run the gamut across all fashion categories from shoes to dresses, tops to denim, jackets to jewelry, and the list really does go on.

When I go into a store for myself or my clients, I hit the ground running like I would at my Whole Foods down the street (shout out). The list is a crucial part to this, telling me what I'm looking for and where to get it. Sure, there's definitely playing-dress-up moments and random browsing, what's life without things like that right? But the list keeps me on point, focused and able to walk out of wherever I am (or sometimes click out since this girl loves her on-line shopping) feeling good about what is on it's way to me or in the bag I'm obnoxiously swinging from my hand (there may be skipping involved, but that usually happens when I'm with my clients/friends and there's wine involved).

My second favorite thing about The StyleShaker you ask? The people I get to meet. Collaboration is key and brings amazing ideas and  outside perspectives to the table. Whenever someone asks to contribute to the site, the first step is usually them submitting their wishlist/shopping list from our hand-picked, heavily edited 'Closet' of goodies. I always love to see how it comes together, and this time around is no exception.

Meet the one-woman powerhouse behind the blog Generations Collective, Tori:

Tori and I met via IFB and she was kind enough to send over her own Hit List, aka top 10 picks and why she fell in love with each. She pulled together this fabulous montage in her Generations Collective aesthetic (which is why I had to have her as a contributor on the site in the first place), so check it out and read about why Tori chose each piece below. Oh, and shop of course!

From Tori:

Fall is just around the corner. For someone like me who loves the Summer, it’s a little bittersweet, but there are some things I’m looking forward to in the coming season. Being able to wear faux fur and flared pants are immediately what come to mind, along with Fall colors and fabrics. I’ve chosen some favorite pieces from Style Shakers’ “What to Wear” that reminded me of the feeling and vibes I’m looking forward to in Autumn.

The shopping list line up:

1. Andros Wide-Legs - Anthropologie

Like I said, flares flares flares. I am crazy about bell bottoms, and these ones are a great color for Summer and Fall. Add a high waist and I'm in love.

2. MINKPINK Wisteria Lane Dress - Revolve Clothing

If you know me at all you know that I am obsessed with florals. I don't care which season, what the weather, I will be wearing florals. I think this is an adorable floral dress, a great transition piece.

3. Rachel Zoe Delfina Silk Chiffon Pants - Saks Fifth Avenue

I can't get over how beautiful this is. The movement, the color, Fall fashion at it's finest.

4. Angie Panorama Twill Pants - Piperlime

Another terrific pair of flares, these ones even more suited for Fall, being that they're thicker and a deeper warmer color. :)

5. Muubaa Charme Aviatress Jacket - Boutique to You

Another love of mine: shearling. I love the aviator style of this jacket. Nothing is more perfect for Fall than leather and fur in one.

6. Rosalina Heel - All Saints

I have been obsessed with wooden heels lately. I adore the look of them, and they are perfect for autumn- the color, and wood reminds me of the trees and the falling leaves.

7. Kendra Scott "C and y" Allison Earrings - Endless

I love the color of these earrings, they're so bright and fun and could add life to any outfit.

8. Hudson Dress – Tibi New York

I adore this dress. I instantly loved it because I thought of it as a perfect transition piece in between Summer and Fall. The colors and beautiful and I love the leafy looking print on the bodice.

9. Burnt Sienna Shag Jacket - Anthropologie

I LOVE faux fur. So far I own two faux fur coats but I cannot get enough. This is one is a great Autumn color too.

10. MISSONI Deep V Long Sleeve Dress – Forward

I am crazy about the print of this dress. The print plus the colors scream “Fall”.

And there you have it. Tori's shopping list, her top ten picks, and hopefully some inspiration for you, the reader, because at the end of the day, that is what it's all about.

LunchBox List | Today's list of things to love...

It's time to sit back, relax, and take a little mini break since, if you're at all like me, you haven't gotten up from your desk to take a real-person, off-campus (i.e out of the office these days), lunch all week. It's just not right, but sometimes, these weeks happen. So it's our job to give ourselves a break, a ten minute, ten day (lovely), or even ten second mini-respite to soak up some amazing images of things that inspire (hopefully), things that are drool-worthy (without a doubt), things that are filled with words that resonate, and maybe, finally, things that remind one to daydream like children do, like we once did.

Here's the LunchBox list. Take a moment and take it in. Be kind to yourself:

2. the amazing Richard Avedon (source:

3. vodka sauce, yum (source:

4. office space (source:

So, since it's 'now,' right now, what are you going to do with it?

How to Wear | A Neon Yellow Dress

I suppose I should have titled this one, "How to Wear a Neon Yellow Dress Without Looking Completely Ridiculous," but I'll stick with the original line for now.

When you throw down the combination of the words, neon and yellow in fashion it can come across slightly comical (think Body Glove of the late eighties) if you're not living in the industry like some of us, eh 'hem, me. In my mind, neon yellow is a spring trend call out so I'm cozy with the word combo right now. Did I ever think I'd be all about the color? Nope. I also swore up and down that I'd never wear a skinny jean years ago (cue to image of me typing this in my grey skinny jeans; never say never). So things change, trends come and go, but for now, this pop color of a hue is having it's moment.

See the inspiration behind it all:

How adorable is she? She's like a walking color palette right? The next part of any How to Wear It. post on this site always involves what I like to call my shop-by-number moment. I see a look I want, then I dig (because that's what I do all day long for work and closet clients) and pull it all together. Seeing something I love is one thing, knowing where to go to online to re-create the look is an entirely other matter. It's a left brain, right brain thing I'm sure. As any specialist in neuroscience and you'll hear the same. Ah yes, fashion and neuroscience in one little article, how much do I love my site? So much. Moving on...

1. Rag & Bone Harlow Dress (shop online: 2. KORS Michael Kors Ysabell Sandal  (shop online: 3. House of Harlow 1960 Riley (shop online: 4. Indego AfricaTM for J.Crew cloth wrap bracelet (shop online: 5. Tory Burch Dual Color Logo Beaded Bracelet (shop online: 6. Orly Genger By Jaclyn Mayer Annebelle Bracelet (shop online:

The yellow dress from Rag & Bone is almost neon but more of an electric, saturated yellow. It's a bit more realistic for everyday life, especially a daytime look. The sleeves and cut keep it clean. Whether you want to take the streamlined look and wear it for day or evening just depends on the accessories. This look could actually go either way, I'm sure with that level of heel from Kors most would lean toward an evening look, but those sandals also work very well while the sun it out. Substitute a pair of colorful flat sandals if you want to give your feet a break and the sight of a four inch heel makes you break into one of those confusing, half-nervous-giggle, half-crying sessions. Emotional instability is not what getting dressed is about, so play to your strengths while stepping outside of your fashion comfort zones.

The bag is genius. Not too small, not too big, chain straps, and amazing detail in the to-die-for color of the leather covering the body of the bag. Thank you House of Harlow. On to the bracelets. Layer, it, up. Fabric bracelets are huge right now, and no, I'm not talking about the friendship bracelets you'd make on the back of the camp bus, there's a little more color and detail going on here. By all means though, don't let me stop you from taking back custody of your inner, ten-year-old camper. Go buy some string and bring it back to the good ole days, just make sure you layer in some other pieces like above.

How to wear a neon dress you ask? Not any more. Question, answered. This is just one take on it using a little inspiration, see more fashion favorites and trends I'm dying to pull off when you discover more on what to wear and how to wear it.
