So you already know that the latest shopping pick to have made it into my closet is from Zara, and if you're staying up to date on the StyleShaker, you also know that when the 'what to wear' part of the fashion equation is defined, the 'how to wear,' piece is not far behind. Cue my latest 'how to wear' moment inspired by the red jacquard blazer from Zara that just found it's home in my home. We're in our honeymoon phase so it's prime time to pull some editorial inspiration and come up with ways to wear my latest love.
Like I said, the first part is done, the product is perfection. Now it's time to pull together the look around it because what good is the blazer to me if it just sits in the closet hanging around, or worse, get's paired with something uninspired or (gasp) match-matchy? That problem is easily avoided with a little research. Here's one editorial pic that I'm using as the main inspiration (click to find it on Pinterest) for this look:

Now it's time to pull it all together with a shop-by-number moment that spells out one way to wear this pop-color blazer. See/shop the look & check out 3 more to keep you endlessly inspired when it comes to ways to wear this red number:

The inspiration pic shows a leather jacket, this I know, but inspiration can be taken from anywhere and I prefer to not go too literal with it. This is, after all, a look you want to make your own so I encourage you to take my montage and tweak it to whatever look you love. The only non-negotiable is that, with the look you put together, you must walk out of the house feeling good about yourself. This I will not waver on.
Moving along, I love the layering going on. The blazer is given front stage in the color department while all other pieces stay neutral. The long sleeve tee is a basic and J.Crew is always one of the best spots for that. You could do anything with the bottom half of the ensemble. I went with Rachel Zoe's Hutton flare pant because I adore the shape and it's ridiculously flattering on any body type. Go with a black cropped skinny, zipper legging, wide leg cream pant, or vintage washed skinny denim. There's plenty of room for options because of the heavy neutrals in the look.
Speaking of, the 3.1 Phillip Lim bag is a drool-worthy pick. The bag is where you want to invest, and in this case, it's not uber-trendy so you'll be getting some very good use out of it. From there, it's on to some Pamela Love jewelry. The overall look is tame allowing the blazer to pop, so it's a free for all with jewelry. I love the idea of a big, chunky, almost tribal necklace. The details are beyond. And then, with all of this refined fashion going on, throw in a killer cross ring that is the exact opposite of timid and lady-like.
The Officiel sandals have some woven elements going on that, if you did decide to go with cropped pants, the whole world would be able to see. These have also made their way onto my shopping list. There's nothing like them out there at that price point. In, love. Beyond. And finally, I didn't have to go there but it's all about polishing it off, and an aviator is one of my favorite ways to do that. Don't forget about the power of a sunglass (think: Top Gun, or really any eighties movie).
And there you have it, done and done. I adore this look and will be adding it to my inspiration list of course, but there's always more than one way to wear anything. I purchase based on that theory, so, with that in mind, I've pulled a couple more looks below to inspire other amazing ways to wear a red blazer (all can be found on my Pinterest board):
