The top: You can't go wrong with a black, long sleeve, scoop neck top, Hourglass body type or any other body type for that matter. This is what we call a closet essential, something that every woman needs to have on hand for all seasons. Buy one each year, or just go big and buy three when you find the basic that a. fits perfectly, b. holds up after a few washes, and c. you feel good in. Well actually, if you hit a, b, and c, you might as well buy stock in that top. Must-have, essential, get the picture yet? The shape is classic, flattering, and ridiculously versatile.

The bottom: This skirt works for an Hourglass body type as long as it's balanced out with what's going on on the top half of the look. The print on this skirt is hard to miss, so you're definitely bringing focus to your bottom half. As long as you use something on top to balance out proportions (in your case, balancing them out is just working with your natural shape), which in this case is a scoop neck tee that will bring a little drama to the neckline, you're good to go.

The rest: Since there's plenty of black and white going on here, there's room for a pop of color. One of the easiest ways to incorporate that into a look is through the handbag. You could always keep the bag black and go with a red lip, or red shoe, but in this case, the bag was one of our favorites so it needed to make it's way into a look. The cuff and sunnies add a little edge and let the bag have it's rightful color cameo. The strappy wedge works for Spring. If you head into Fall, you can always opt for a classic black pump, or if you have the height, a knee-high, heeled black boot back to some opaque tights (go bare leg if the temps allow, but keeping one color will extend the vertical line on the lower half of the look). Bring in a scarf and classic trench to complete a more wintry look (shop the Closet for options, links below).

The ONE thing you need to know when you're an Hourglass body type pulling off this look is to make sure you have the right shoe for your proportions. That wedge, albeit fabulous and comfy, will cut you off at the ankles with that strap. So, if you want height or are vertically-challenged, you will definitely want to go with a pump or boot (ankle or heeled knee-high) with opaque tights. Every Hourglass is a little different obviously. There's no, one cookie-cutter hourglass shape out there so work with what you've got. We're all a little bit of a hybrid, that's what makes life interesting.
