Review of the Honest Beauty Liquid Lipsticks

Honest Beauty Liquid Lipsticks- $12.99:

Here’s the quick SCORECARD breakdown. Each question is rated on a scale of 1 to 5, 5being the best:

1. How do the ingredients look? What’s inside?- Really great! See below on a few ‘may contain’ ingredients that are iffy. But overall, a solid ingredients list.

2. How's color payoff?- 5: Incredible. Super-saturated color!

3. Does color last?- 5: Absolutely. It did an amazing job on my full-day wear tests!

4. Is it non-drying?- 4: I wouldn't say it was super drying. I did feel a little dryness after a few hours so I'd reapply to moisturize.

5. How’s texture?- 4: The texture is very smooth, almost whipped at first. It's moisturizing, a bit tacky, but not sticky. Applying a balm underneath worked like a charm when needed a smoother feel.

6. Did the product perform the way the brand claimed it would? 4- I’d say yes, almost 100%. I did find it a little less hydrating than it was ‘supposed’ to be, so it just missed receiving a perfect score.

7. Is this a consciously-created product? 3- Cruelty-free & vegan for the win! The packaging however, isn't up to par yet.

  • The color payoff is amazing!

  • It really does last

  • Vegan and cruelty-free

  • Great shade range

  • There are so few, but, I did need to reapply to rehydrate, so it wasn’t as moisturizing as I thought it would be

  • More plastic in the world :(

These were the not-so-great ingredients that didn’t pass the Rule of 3. Click below to find out all the details. Keep in mind, the percentage of these ingredients in the products MATTERS! I rarely take ‘scary’ scores on EWG at face value these days, and always ask the brand about to clarify if I’m concerned. Works like a charm! See their response.

I pull these directly from the brand’s or reputable retailers’ website. You’d be shocked at how many product pages have misspellings so if you see one, you’ll know why! I didn’t catch it. Neither did the retailer. What’s missing: percentage of ingredient used & the amount of evidence/data backing up each number rating from You can search the EWG SkinDeep database to find the data available behind each rating. You can find out the percentage of the ingredient used by asking the brand. Here we go!
