The top: When it comes to the Pear body type, you get to play with the top half of any fashion equation  and go big. This striped, wrap jacket is a great way to do that when you're keeping it casual during the week. The wider lapel is going to accentuate your neckline and that, combined with the cinching at the waist, is going to bring your eye up above your waist.

The bottom: The reason these jeans work well for a Pear body type is that they will accentuate your curves without throwing off balance on the entire look thanks to the hem that flares slightly. The dark wash is also key for these, although you could also go with something in the medium blue family as well. You've got options, just avoid any extra pockets or distressing right around the hips.

The rest: The sunglasses are an easy way to polish off any look when you're out and about. A more dramatic black frame will 'glam' it up a bit. Go with an aviator to get sporty or a Wayfarer if you're feeling your inner-hipster start to come out. You could also throw in a red frame to inject a little color into your day. The bracelet and ring are great add-ons that complete the look without getting too far gone when it comes to the shine factor. It is a casual weekday look after all. Finally, the shoe and the bag are the perfect accessories to have on hand when you need to run around and carry your whole life with you simultaneously. Go for something a bit less open than the sandal if temps start to drop, and opt for an ankle boot. Easy, peasy.

The ONE thing you need to know: there's a heel pictured here for a reason. Keep it in the picture. Step away from the flats. If you're looking for comfort, you can go for a lower wedge or stacked heel boot/pump. The heel is detrimental for you Pear body types out there, so find a way to make it work for you in this look. Any size heel will help elongate and extend the vertical eye line. We love that right? Right.

2endofpost_NOTESFROMINDUSTRYINSIDER_edited-1

The top: Rectangle body types, this look is on-point for you when it comes to a Spring/Summer. The tank is definitely body conscious and will hug a bit, but the details on the shoulders and neckline will help add a little something to bring some attention where you may not normally get it. Layer a streamlined cardigan over the tank if you need additional coverage on this one. You could also go with a bright white blazer or black as well if you're going to a working lunch. Just make sure the blazer is fitted and hits a sweet spot below the waist but above your hips.

The bottom: The pleated skirt is your friend, not to mention gorgeous in this case. The print is subtle but the color is bright so you're going to be bringing some serious focus to your lower half, which, as a Rectangle body type, you can do without throwing things off balance. The best part about the skirt is that it fits through the hips and has a seam right at the thigh that's going to create a little extra volume and movement. These details are going to help bring some balance to your naturally straight lines.

The rest: The heeled sandal is pretty scandalous for some. We get it, not everyone can pull off a four inch (ish) platform sandal during the day. Remember, use these looks as inspiration. You don't need to try and squeeze yourself into the look. Instead make the look work for you. Rectangles, if you're wanting something a bit more realistic since you are running around, you can go with a neutral wedge, lower heel on a sandal, or even a flat sandal if you have some height. Actually, it's why this look is so amazing for the Rectangle body type, you can get so many variations on one theme that will all flatter your shape and add curves where you want them. The belt can stay or go, depending on what you're in the mood for. A great option would be to layer in a lightweight grey or neutral cardigan, and belt it on the outside. The jewelry is a little more vintage and bohemian in look and feel, aligning with vibe on that skirt. You could also turn this into a full-on 'prepster' moment by opting for some studs and a more demure chain bracelet. The cross body bag just pulls it all together in a casual, but sophisticated way.

The ONE thing you need to know: If you do want to add a bit more coverage, make sure the top layer isn't too loose. You want to go with something that is more fitted so your shape doesn't get lost in the shuffle. If all you have is a cardigan with a bit more bulk, the belt is going to come in handy when you cinch things up and define your waist.

2endofpost_NOTESFROMINDUSTRYINSIDER_edited-1

The top: When it comes to an Hourglass body type, this tank could be very dangerous, in a good way. This tank, with the emphasis on the neckline and the structured shoulders is a quick way to pull focus to, well, some of your best assets. We're all about looking at what you DO have instead of pointing out what you don't over here, and this tank is a quick way to put that into action. Body conscious? Yes, the tank that is. You on the other hand, if you're comfortable doing it of course, should run with this look. The fitted top won't throw things off balance with the skirt because you're bringing natural proportions to the table that will fill things out well. Layer a cardigan over this tank if you need a little coverage, just keep it lightweight, streamlined, and neutral in color.

The bottom: Pleats can work for an Hourglass body type most of the time, and this is no exception to that. The skirt is going to accentuate your hourglass hips with the small, drop-waist seam that cuts extends out to a fuller pleat. There's some nice movement going on at the hem which is a great thing to have working in your favor. The print is bright and will bring plenty of attention to the lower half of your look which is ok since you will be balancing things out on top.

The rest: The sandal will add some height and extend the vertical lines going on here which is important when you're dealing with a bold skirt like the one being shown. If that heel is a tad too high for what you'd wear on the weekend, opt for a wedge where you'll get the same height with a bit more comfort. Layer-up on the bracelets if you want, or just keep it simple with the one. As for the earring, definitely throw something a bit more boho into the mix, or at least something more substantial than a stud. The cross body bag brings it all together and makes it a full-on weekend look.

The ONE thing you need to know: if you're a curvier Hourglass, you're going to want to toss out the belt. If you have a little extra volume at your waist, go with a heather-grey or darker color on the tank, OR, you could keep the white and incorporate a fitted cardigan into the mix. One more thing to note is the heel. Keep the heel in this look. Since the length of the skirt falls below your knee, you're going to want some added height where you can get it.

I'm an Apple Body Type, Looking for Something to Wear Out on a Weekday Running Errands or Going to Lunch...

Apple body types, here's a look that will upgrade any weekday look in 7 steps:

I'm an Apple Body Type, Looking for Something to Wear Out on a Weekday Running Errands or Going to Lunch...

sources: 1 Dolce & Gabbana T-shirt (www.yoox.com), 2 Diane von Furstenberg Two Tiered Pleated Skirt (www.farfetch.com), 3 MICHAEL Michael Kors Asta Double-Buckle Sandal (www.neimanmarcus.com), 4 MADE Fair Trade Cross Body Satchel Bag Tan (www.fashion-conscience.com), 5 Pamela Love Earrings (www.yoox.com), 6 Jack Wills Whinfield Belt (www.jackwills.com), 7 Giles & Brother Serpent Cuff (www.bloomingdales.com)

stylist notes

The top: This t-shirt from Dolce & Gabbana works well for an Apple body type for a few different reasons, but we'll stick to two: First, it has the v-neckline going on which will always elongate. Second, it's super clean and super simple. This allows for all of the attention to go to your lower half with the skirt which will help to even out your proportions.

The bottom: This skirt is an Apple body type's best friend. The details at the waist and the pleating work well to fit and then flare drawing the eye-line below the waist and balancing out your naturally top-heavy proportions. If your midsection is an issue, leave the tank untucked and drop the belt from the equation. The streamlined material on the skirt before it pleats out at the hem should also help by not adding any additional bulk right around the waistline.

The rest: The heel will elongate which is important when you're working with a skirt that falls below the knee. The jewelry is half-edgy, half-boho so use this as a guide, and feel free to substitute anything else you may have laying around. Get creative. If you want something a bit more demure, go with a small chain bracelet and decorative studs. The bag brings out the casual side of the outfit, not to mention you can go hands-free with this cross body. Bonus.

The ONE thing you need to know: Short-waisted Apple ladies out there, our suggestion is that you don't tuck the top into the skirt. Make sure the waist on the skirt sits a little low. You're fooling the eye with a pseudo-drop waist by doing this. Also, like we mentioned earlier, you're going to want to lose the belt as well. No big deal, you have the rest of the look to flaunt your Apple-ness.

Pear body types, check out a classic look to wear to work that will take your professional wardrobe up a notch in the personal style department:

I'm a Pear Body Type, Looking for Something to Wear to Work...

inpost_featinlkbkOCT

sources: 1 Reiss Smyth Knitted Flare Dress (www.reiss.com), 2 FOREVER 21 Classic Faux Suede Pumps (www.forever21.com), 3 Rebecca Minkoff Mahogany Mini Lusciuous Studded Hobo (www.forzieri.com), 4 Oscar de la Renta Lace Gold Chain Bracelet (www.boutique1.com)

stylist notes

The top: Pear body types can usually go big when it comes to your neckline, shoulder details, all of it, but this dress keeps it simple. There's some subtle texture going on, and you can definitely amp things up a bit with the addition of a statement necklace or colorful scarf. That said, just because you can take more risks up top, doesn't mean you always have to.

The bottom: Pleats for a Pear body type? Seriously? Seriously. The dark navy color is going to keep things streamlined. The pleating holds off a bit past the waist until you get to where your thighs are. This fit and flare action works for Pears mainly because you're taking the eye away from your fullest part and extending it out a bit. When the fabric falls away from your lower half, you're balancing out your proportions. Texture, color, print, and amount of volume all come into play here so keep an eye to make sure when you DO go with a pleat that flares slightly, it's a simple one.

The rest: As previously mentioned, you can definitely add a statement necklace or colorful printed scarf to the top of this look. The neutral bag in a butterscotch is your go-to brown bag for the season. Every woman needs this in her closet so we advise you invest a little more since you'll ben wearing this little accessory all over the place. Finally, the heel. The grey works well back to the navy and brown. It's a little unexpected since most would pair another brown option with the look. Why not mix it up a bit? Keep the pump for work, or go with a heeled boot when the temps drop.

The ONE thing you need to know: this looks works for the Pear body types out there for a few reasons, but one way you can easily slip up would be to opt for a flat shoe instead of one with a heel. Just don't do it. You can lower the heel height, go for a stacked heel pump (a bit more comfortable when it comes to a more even distribution of weight), or even a wedge heel would work depending upon the season. The bottom line: Heels are going to be a must when working with the length of, and pleating on, that dress.

I'm an Hourglass Body Type, Looking for Something to Wear This Weekend...

Hourglass body types, here's a look for the weekend that is beyond your normal go-to ensemble. Drop the yoga pants. Try this out instead:

I'm an Hourglass Body Type, Looking for Something to Wear This Weekend...

sources: French Connection Lorelai Lace Top (www.usa.frenchconnection.com), 2 VELVET Ruby Army Jacket (www.shopbop.com), 3 J Brand 835 cropped mid-rise skinny jeans (www.net-a-porter.com), 4 ASOS Tumbled Leather Shopper With Panel detail (www.forever21.com), 5 FOREVER 21 Standout D'Orsay Flats (www.us.asos.com), 6 Ray-Ban Polarized Wayfarer Sunglasses (www.net-a-porter.com), 7 Monica Vinader Baja set of two rose gold-plated rings (www.shopbop.com)

stylist notes

The top: The lace tee with the military jacket as the outer layer are going to add a lot to your upper half. This is fine as long as you balance out, and in the case of an Hourglass body type, stick to, your natural proportions. Both the tee and the jacket fall slightly away from the body so there's not too much bulk on top which is helpful. Speaking of the jacket, there's one more great thing it will do for your top half and that is add a little structure. Hourglasses always benefit from a more structured look because you have plenty of curves to contend with and you don't want them to get lost in the style shuffle. Tailoring, seaming details, etc. are your best friend.

The bottom: The black skinny jeans slim and streamline like nothing else. You can't go wrong with these, and it's a nice departure from your everyday blue denim. If you want to balance proportions even more, you can go with a boot cut version in the same color, or take it uber-casual with a more distressed wash. Grey denim would also work really well here, so feel free to play around with it.

The rest: A classic black tote gets a refresher via a tumbled leather texture that brings it up a level from basic. A bold ring works here as well. Bracelets would just be an exercise in fashion futility under the sleeves of that jacket. And finally, a detailed ankle strap flat brings everything together with a bit of a twist. Scratch that, the final piece of the look would be those Ray Ban wayfarers. Overall, the look and feel is stylishly saddled between preppy and hipster. Make it your own via the accessories.

The ONE thing you need to know: If you are a more petite Hourglass body type you're going to need a bit more height than that flat. Bring a comfortable wedge sandal or ankle boot into the mix. Keep both black so you can extend the vertical line through the leg of the skinny jean. And finally, watch out for jewelry up top. Avoid any extras in the way of necklaces or earrings. You already have the clothing doing a lot of 'talking' for you, so anything extra may end up being distracting. When in doubt, keep it simple.

Rectangle body types: if you've been trying to up your weekend fashion game, here's how you can do it in 7 steps:

I'm a Rectangle Body Type, Looking for Something to Wear This Weekend

sources: French Connection Lorelai Lace Top (www.usa.frenchconnection.com), 2 VELVET Ruby Army Jacket (www.shopbop.com), 3 J Brand 835 cropped mid-rise skinny jeans (www.net-a-porter.com), 4 ASOS Tumbled Leather Shopper With Panel detail (www.forever21.com), 5 FOREVER 21 Standout D'Orsay Flats (www.us.asos.com), 6 Ray-Ban Polarized Wayfarer Sunglasses (www.net-a-porter.com), 7 Monica Vinader Baja set of two rose gold-plated rings (www.shopbop.com)

stylist notes

The top: What? Rectangle body types out there, I mean really, you've got it all! Well played mother nature, well played. Mini-body type celebration aside, the layering of the military jacket back to the lace embellished tee works well for you because you have a super versatile frame that can carry the extra drama on top (even if it's less 'glam' drama and more 'utilitarian' in nature). Actually, the combination of the tee and jacket will help create some volume on the top half of your body. The look draws a bit outside of your straight lines, which we love.

The bottom: A black skinny jean is an easy way to pull-together a more polished look for the weekend. As a Rectangle body type, you could always go with your everyday blues, or a grey skinny, but in this case, we're sticking with black. The skinny lines will elongate which is a plus for petite Rectangles out there.

The rest: Just because you're wearing a military jacket doesn't mean  you need to fly sans jewelry, ok? Make sure you add something into the mix that shines it up a bit. The masculine/feminine juxtaposition (big word, sorry about that) is a fun one to play with. Lace back to military, streamlined black skinnies back to a bold rock of a statement ring, and so on. Have fun with it and if you're feeling hipster-ish, or just can't find the rest of the sunglasses you've lost to the black hole that may very well be your closet, go with an easy pair of Wayfarers.

On to the tote which takes your classic black variation and flips it on it's head with some added textural details. Put the contents of your life in there and go. You'll get TONS of use out of this, which for the price, makes it an even BETTER pick. For the more petite Rectangle body types, you'll want to go with something a bit more demure like a mid-size, slouchy shoulder bag. You can shop the Closet (if you're one of our amazing members that is; see below) for alternatives. And finally, that flat. We love how the basic flat gets refreshed with one simple ankle strap addition. Take the look from great to, "oh wow, I love those shoes, you look so pulled together," in a snap. What woman doesn't want to hear that? If you don't by the way, you may be on the wrong personal styling website.

The ONE thing you need to know: Not all ages are going to go for the Ray Ban Wayfarer sunglasses. Go with your gut on this one, you know when an accessory just doesn't feel 'right' for your look/lifestyle. Trust that.

To make this look a bit more age appropriate in terms of sunglasses, Rectangle Ladies out there can easily work an aviator or classic tortoise frame into the equation. It's all about working with the shape of that gorgeous face of yours. Too much? You'll just have to go with it. In the end, you should feel good about yourself as you walk out the door in your weekend look. Make the look work for you and not the other way around. Got it? Got it.

I'm a Rectangle Body Type, Looking for Something to Wear to Work

Rectangle body types, here's a look to wear to work that will elevate your office's style quotient in 4 steps:

I'm a Rectangle Body Type, Looking for Something to Wear to Work

inpost_featinlkbkOCT

sources: 1 Reiss Smyth Knitted Flare Dress (www.reiss.com), 2 FOREVER 21 Classic Faux Suede Pumps (www.forever21.com), 3 Rebecca Minkoff Mahogany Mini Lusciuous Studded Hobo (www.forzieri.com), 4 Oscar de la Renta Lace Gold Chain Bracelet (www.boutique1.com)

stylist notes

The top: Rectangle body types, your frame works well back to a fitted dress like the Reiss option above. The seaming detail at the waist will cinch in your torso and the straight lines of your silhouette can handle the tighter fit through your chest and arms.

The bottom: The great part about the pleating on this dress is that it will add a little volume to your lower half as the fabric falls slight away from your body. To balance that out on top, you can always bring a statement necklace or drop earring into the equation. Try whatever you think will bring the drama without going overboard for an office look.

The rest: The accessories on the rest of this look are sim-ple. It's tempting to take such a simple cut when it comes to the dress and want to jazz it up a bit with bells and whistles. It's an option for Rectangles, but the overall look and feel we're going for here is a clean and polished one. The accessories, from the butterscotch leather shoulder bag to the grey faux suede pump, are right in-line with achieving that style goal A chain bracelet that falls over the fabric on the fitted arm is a great option to tie the look together and make it your own. Jewelry does that so well. You can take something so basic, throw a few key baubles into the mix, and boom, you have an original, well-thought out look.

The ONE thing you need to know: If you're feeling like a pump isn't going to cut it as the temps continue to drop, Rectangle body types can certainly pull off a heeled, knee-high boot on this one. Go with something in the brown family to keep it soft. And make sure the heel is a streamlined one at that. You don't want a bulky boot with a stacked heel when you have a dress with these classic lines. When it comes to the shoe situation, just know you've got options.

Rectangle body types, up your weekend-casual fashion game in 6 easy steps:

stylist notes

The top: When it comes to a Rectangle body type, long & lean isn't the problem. The key to the top half of this look is the layer of the cardigan that will add a bit of shape to your naturally straight, ridiculously versatile, lines. Wear it open and feel free to layer a couple of pendant necklaces on top if you're up for it.

The bottom: A distressed grey skinny jean is an easy way for Rectangle body types to add a little edge into any look. Your shape can pull off the additional texture going on with those skinny jeans because you have very minimal curves to start with. The distressed embellishments actually work in your favor.

The rest: The simple flat goes d'orsay, as opposed to your everyday ballet. It's more sophisticated in feel, and can work into any look. If you have the height, wearing a flat with a skinny jean will be no problem. More petite Rectangle body types can still pull this off, but to flatter your proportions a bit more, you may want to incorporate a small heel, kitten, stacked, ankle boot or otherwise. The Alexander Wang bag is there to represent your everyday, go-to black handbag. Every closet needs one and you will wear it to death, get it refurbished, and wear it to death again, so try to invest more here when possible. You don't have to break the bank, and there are plenty of amazing faux leather options out there now, just put a little love and attention into this piece of the equation because this bag will be around for the long haul (if you're a Member, you can shop The Closet below and see alternatives). Layer on a few bracelets, metallic or colorful leather, to pull the look together.

The ONE thing you need to know: wearing the cardigan buttoned up is only going to exaggerate your column-like shape. It's not the worst thing in the world, but it's not working in your favor. Flatter and add a little proportion where there may not be much, by letting that top later fall away from the body. The lines of the cardigan will work well back to the cut on that tank. It's harmonious fashion for a Rectangle body type. Know it, love it.

stylist notes

The top: I know, you think we're going to tell you to wear the cardigan open over the tank, but nope Hourglass body types, we're recommending the opposite and here's why: As an Hourglass, you have natural curves to work with. To flatter your assets, you need structure. It doesn't mean everything needs to be tight, seamed-up, or super-constructed. You can create structure using streamlined layers that hug your body. Case in point, the cardigan. Do you need it buttoned up all the way? No. Just a few below the bust-line will do. Can you still wear it open? Of course, just heed our advice in the 'ONE thing to know' area below...

The bottom: A skinny, distressed jean like this one is going to draw the eye to any curves you have going on in the lower half of your body. That's not necessarily a bad thing at all for Hourglass body types out there. If you're a petite Hourglass, opt for a heel as opposed to the flat. You'll need a little more to elongate your vertical line. You can also always go with a basic blue wash here too if you're feeling, well, basic.

The rest: The bag, the shoe, and the addition of an easy chain bracelet pull the look together using essential pieces that should already be a part of your core closet. If they're not, shop our Closet to get started (you need to be a Member to do this mind you). And when it comes to those 'core' accessories, since you'll be getting plenty of wear out of them, do yourself a favor, when possible, invest a little bit more. It can go a long way. Also, become best friends with your local cobbler. They are magicians that can extend the life of your favorite bags and shoes.

The ONE thing you need to know: If you're going to wear the cardigan open and can't be bothered with the whole buttoning-up situation, then make sure the cardigan you have on isn't too bulky. Go for something that has a little stretch in it so it will cinch in the loose tank underneath. Your curves deserve to be featured in the most flattering light possible, don't cover them up with too much fabric. Simple and streamlined is the name of the cardigan game on this one.

stylist notes

The top: Apple body types out there, the v-neck on the cardigan layered over the tank is what will flatter your top half. Wear the cardigan closed to draw the eye into the center, vertical line so the lines on the tank don't throw proportions off. The fact that the cardigan is a bit more fitted and will let the hem on the top peek out slightly under it, is just one more reason to love this look.

The bottom: Skinny jeans aren't always the best option for an Apple body type, as the goal is to minimize your top half and accentuate your bottom half, BUT, the distressed action going on here brings the eye right down to your legs. Not into all of that excess embellishment? Feel free to bring in a classic boot-cut jean, and you'll be taking the edge off.

The rest: The flats are a step up from your run-of-the-mill ballet flats. You could also go with a pump if you're wanting to seriously upgrade your weekend look and elongate. The black bag is a basic, everyday essential you need to have in your core closet. If you don't already own one, shop options in our Closet (link below; you must be a Member to get in there) and invest in something great. You'll be wearing this day in and day out, so spending a little more for quality, if you can afford it, is not a bad idea. And by the way, there are insanely amazing options out there right now in faux leathers that both hold up and are way more affordable. Go with a gold bracelet, colorful leather strap bracelet, or something else you can layer to pull the look together in a way that only the right jewelry additions can do. So small, yet SO effective.

The ONE thing you need to know: Whatever cardigan you choose to go with must be kept simple and streamlined. The only extras on top should be the buttons. You want to keep your neckline clean so you can balance out your proportions naturally. V-neck, yes please. Keep the v-neck. Always.

I'm a Rectangle Body Type, Looking for Something to Wear this Weekend

Rectangle Body Types, it's time to fill in the fashion blanks with a look that's all about how to upgrade your weekend ensemble in six simple steps.

2endofpost_NOTESFROMINDUSTRYINSIDER_edited-1

The top: It's sweater weather out there and that means it's time to get cozy without swallowing your shape whole in too much fabric dear Rectangle body types. This cashmere sweater works for you IF the hem doesn't extend too far past your natural waist. If you're swimming in this knit or are more of a petite Rectangle shape, opt for something a bit smaller, fitted, and streamlined. You have naturally straight lines so you want to be sure the sweater you go with doesn't just follow suit. The reason the sweater works, when fitted correctly, is via a nice drop along the neckline with a deep-v that will bring attention upward, AND, the fabric splitting on both sides along the hem will have it falling away from the body, balancing out proportions.

The bottom: These are your basic bootcuts and yes, you guessed it, they're an absolute essential in your wardrobe. Find a pair that fits through the thigh and then flares only slightly at the hem. Once you find the perfect fit, buy 10 of them. Ok fine, two, one for heels and one that you can get hemmed for flats. But if 10 is an option,  go for it. We all have our favorites, but you have to try on to figure it all out. If you're shopping on-line, buy two sizes so you don't have to worry about a time lag should one size you select not be just right.

The rest: The tote is a perfect everyday piece to have in your accessories arsenal. The neutral, putty color makes this the perfect basic for Fall/Winter, and the size of it will allow you to squeeze everything you could possibly need for the day in there. The jewelry is kept relatively calm. It's a weekend look so you don't need to go big when it comes to the shiny stuff. Something simple, a favorite bangle and ring, will do the trick. Finally, the flat in a leopard print adds some interest to the look. You can go with a neutral, this is just one way you get to take what is deemed a 'basic' look and elevate it a bit.

The ONE thing you need to know: Rectangle body types can get away with almost anything really. That's generalizing a bit, but your straight shape lends itself to being molded all sorts of stylish ways. The one thing you need to keep in mind is volume on the sweater. As mentioned earlier, you don't want that sweater to fall too far below your hips. You could bring it to a tailor to have it hemmed or you could opt for another option. Length is one consideration, shape is another. If there's too much fabric and volume, but the length is fine, you could always layer over a thicker cardigan or soft blazer that is tailored to fit closer to your body. This additional layer will pull everything in for you, and while it's doing that, it will definitely upgrade the look from basic-weekend, to a more polished variation on the theme.

I'm a Rectangle Body Type Looking for Something to Wear This Weekend

Rectangle body types, take a Fall look for the weekend and elevate it a bit with the addition of a couple key pieces:

stylist notes

The top: Rectangle body types can handle the details going on here, from the lace-embellishments covering the front of the sweater, to the moto jacket that is bringing some serious edge to the look. Those two layers will accentuate your top half which you will use to balance out what you're doing with your bottom half. This is how you create more flattering proportions that go beyond your naturally straight lines. You've got an amazing canvas to work with, so the styling options are endless. Just one more reason it's good to be a Rectangle.

The bottom: These jeans are a beautiful thing. The boot-cut shape going on is one you need to commit to your memory so every time you're out there jean shopping, you know what to look for. Always have something like this on hand in your wardrobe, whether the wash is dark and saturated or medium and a bit distressed. Both options work well for your shape. Keep one jean tailored to flats and the other jean you can hem to fall over your heels.

The rest: Since you have plenty of things going on between the sweater and the jacket, the best approach to jewelry and accessories is a simple one. You don't want to overwhelm things and distract from the good stuff you have coming together here as far as clothing is concerned. We used a classic stud earring, bucket bag, and easy ankle boot to complement the entire ensemble. Super simple, super easy. This is where having a strong core closet comes in handy.

The ONE thing you need to know: The moto jacket is one way to pull the look together, but don't get stuck there. You could throw a camel or black trench over things and you have a more polished take on a weekend look. Opt for a peacoat and you head into 'preppy' territory, or bring a military jacket into the mix for something that fits  a more laid-back weekend vibe. Jackets, and blazers for that matter, are one of the best ways to add major versatility to your wardrobe. Invest when you can, because you will definitely get tons of use out of this top layer.

I'm an Hourglass Body Type, Looking for Something to Wear During the Weekday While Running Around

Hourglass body types, here's a look that will upgrade any Fall weekday look in 6 steps:

I'm an Hourglass Body Type, Looking for Something to Wear During the Weekday While Running Around

sources: Veda x Madewell Black Leather Moto Jacket (www.madewell.com), 2 Diane von Furstenberg Shara lace-appliquéd wool sweater (www.net-a-porter.com), 3 Tory Burch Classic Tory Bootcut Jean In Rinse (www.toryburch.com), 4 Barrie Cutout Bootie (www.nastygal.com), 5 Rebecca Minkoff Quinn Bucket Bag (www.rebeccaminkoff.com), 6 Susan Caplan Vintage 1980s Givenchy Gold Plated Clip-On Earrings (www.harveynichols.com)

stylist notes

Hourglass body types out there, mother nature has set you up with naturally balanced proportions. Thank you, genetics. Your job? Don't mess too much with nature. Accentuate what you've got.

The top: The Moto Jacket is a perfect fall-to-winter piece layered over the sweater. If that jacket had a more dramatic lapel, you could balance it out by swapping the sweater for a solid color version. Since it's the jacket we've used is black, you're ok with the additional lace embellishment covering the sweater.

The bottom: So often clients ask how they can dress it up a bit for daytime. If you have a strong core foundation in your closet, this is simple (Members have access to the Seasonal Shopping Checklist that helps them do this; read more about membership options here). Get a jean that really fits your Hourglass body type well (this is an event in Shopping Land, and could take a bit of extra time unless you have an on-call stylist to ask for unbiased advice; eh hem, it's coming). A classic bootcut jean (fitted through the thigh, leg, and then has a little volume at the hem) is going to be your best friend.

The rest: If the heel scares you for day, hem the jeans and go with a classic ballet flat. The bag and earring stay simple so you can let the rest of the look do the talking for you. No need to add any distractions when you've got a good thing going on.

The ONE thing you need to know: If you're not in the mood for a boot-cut jean and feel more like bringing a skinny jean option into the equation, you're going to want to keep two things in mind. First, the sweater should fall a bit below your natural hourglass waist. If it hits right at the waist, you may be bringing too much attention to your top half and throwing off the balance when you wear skinny jeans below. Second, the ankle boot is a great option, but in the interest of elongating a bit more (the ankle boot will cut your vertical  leg line off), try out a pump or stacked heel of some kind to keep it manageable while you're running around.

Apple body types, looking to upgrade your routine casual weekend look? Do it in 6 steps:

stylist notes

The top: Apply body types, do you see the v-neck on that sweater? Yep, that's for you. Also, the splits at both sides of the hem on the sweater allow for the fabric to fall away from the waist which will help balance out your proportions.

The bottom: The boot-cut jean is your friend. You could go with something a bit more distressed, or even a grey option, but we're keeping it true blue and simple with this look because we have a fun flat that we want to feature and focus on. Know this silhouette, find the perfect pair for you (Members, you can always start by shopping our edited Closet, see below) and buy a couple of pairs if you can. One for flats, one for feels. Keep these, take care of them (always wash your jeans inside out to prevent fading), and you'll have them forever. Unless of course, the brand you go with constructed a crappy jean, it's very possible. In which case, KEEP YOUR RECEIPT and look at the return policy when you buy. You should not have to keep something that cost you money and is poorly made. No ma'm. This comes from a former luxury retailer who saw it all.

The rest: The flat will peek out from under the hem of that boot-cut jean and that's just fine. You can show a little personality with that and not take it too far for something you want to wear out and about on a weekday. Go neutral or even with a different color if animal prints are not your thing (i.e. you're not from Jersey or Dallas for that matter; yes, we're generalizing but hey, it's true). A classic neutral tote, this time in a putty color that will add a little unexpected edge compared to your basic black or brown, works well here. Finally, a couple of key jewelry additions round it all out.

The ONE thing you need to know: If the sweater has the v-neck, flares out at the hem, but is too bulky for your frame, pass on it. Go with something that has a bit more stretch to it, that will hug your curves at the torso, but also has a little volume at the hem to bell out. That's the silhouette you want to go for if something like this sweater has a swallow-you-whole effect when you try it on.

The Rectangle Body type can handle the draping going on with the cowl neckline and the volume on the sweater. But if there's too little structure on top AND bottom, then you fall into a column-like look. Cue: the streamlined jean to hug a bit where you want it to and a scarf to also help balance out proportions. With some height, the flats work. If you want to dress it up or elongate, go with a heel via a pump, sandal, or boot. The rest of the look is all about keeping the accessories neutral.

The lace detail on the top is on-point for Pear Body Types. You can bring the drama on the top half of the fashion equation every time as it balances out your proportions with your bottom half. The layer of the army jacket on top of the feminine lace is a mix of masculine/femme, but when it comes to working with your body types, this look shows you how you can layer up and stick with the idea of adding to your top half to balance out the bottom half. Keep in mind, it's not about adding bulk or extra volume, and definitely make sure tops don't fall past your hips.

BOTTOM_whyitworksheader(1)

The super-saturated, dark wash skinny jean is one solid color and dark enough that it will streamline while keeping things casual. If you want to elongate further with the skinny jean, you can add a pump or heeled boot.

REST_whyitworksheader(1)

The rest of the look is all about keeping accessories simple. You already have plenty going on with the top and the jacket, so keep the rest toned down. The d'orsay flat is a classic black, but with some subtle hardware on the straps. It's an easy way to add some interest to a basic black flat. The sunnies are a classic Ray Ban wayfarer, but you could always swap things out with an aviator silhouette. The ring and the tote bring the look into focus without distracting from anything.

TOP_whyitworksheader(1)

A loose cowl-neck is a great way to  add a little drama and bring the eye upward. The hem on this sweater drapes unevenly which should prevent it from falling too far below the waist and over the hips. If that happens, pass. Make sure the sweater hits slightly below the waist and not any longer The cowl neck is further exaggerated with the addition of a printed infinity scarf. Here's your chance to fold in some color on this Fall-centric look.

BOTTOM_whyitworksheader(1)

The wash on this skinny jean is clean with very little distressing and no pockets popping out where you don't want them to, a key detail for Pear Body Types. Make sure the wash is medium to dark. You could also switch it up with a black wash.

REST_whyitworksheader(1)

The navy suede ballet flat is another small way to add some subtle color while keeping everything pulled together. It's in those tiny details that you can make a look your own. A woven chocolate brown bag is neutral enough to work into almost any look, and this satchel is large enough to hold anything you'd need on the weekend. Finally, a few rings to add some hardware into the picture. Layer on more rings or bracelets to add more 'oomph.' With the scarf and cowl neck, a necklace and earring would just get covered up so you can leave them out.

WIW_3DRESS_whyitworksheader(1)

The top of the dress works well for Apple Body Types with clean lines and solid color. Keep it simple on top so avoid any necklaces on this one. A waist is defined for you with the sewn in seaming details that will emphasize your narrowest part. Finally, the slight pleating at the hem, also in the solid navy hue, brings the attention to the lower half of your body, right where you want it.

REST_whyitworksheader(1)

The soft caramel hobo acts as a neutral back to the navy. Substitute another brown or black for the bag. The grey pump keeps everything streamlined and is a bit more interesting than a classic black pump, but either will work. You could also factor in a knee-high boot in a chocolate brown for fall in this fashion equation.

TOP_whyitworksheader(1)

The Hourglass Body Type can handle almost anything you throw at it. This sweater works IF the fit is slightly snug, not body-conscious, but shows a bit of shape, i.e. the fabric shouldn't fall too far away from your body or else you cover up all the assets you have going for you. The v-neck flatters and it's a great way to throw in color to an otherwise basic look.

BOTTOM_whyitworksheader(1)

The boot-cut jean fits along the thigh, hugs your curves, and with a slight flare at the hem, adds a little more dimension to keep your naturally balanced proportions, well, balanced. It also allows you to pull off a flat without going to narrow along the leg line if it were a skinny jean.

REST_whyitworksheader(1)

The flat is throw into the mix to show you how to take a basic look and make it your own using print. Color can also be used. Keep the jewelry simple, you can go silver or gold (shown above), and bracelets or necklaces are not out of the option. A bold statement necklace (color or metallic) on it's own would also be something that will take the look and dress it up a bit instantly. The neutral bag speaks for itself as it's an essential every woman needs to lug around her life's contents in throughout the day.
