Hourglass body types out there, mother nature has set you up with naturally balanced proportions. Thank you, genetics. Your job? Don't mess too much with nature. Accentuate what you've got.
The top: The Moto Jacket is a perfect fall-to-winter piece layered over the sweater. If that jacket had a more dramatic lapel, you could balance it out by swapping the sweater for a solid color version. Since it's the jacket we've used is black, you're ok with the additional lace embellishment covering the sweater.
The bottom: So often clients ask how they can dress it up a bit for daytime. If you have a strong core foundation in your closet, this is simple (Members have access to the Seasonal Shopping Checklist that helps them do this; read more about membership options here). Get a jean that really fits your Hourglass body type well (this is an event in Shopping Land, and could take a bit of extra time unless you have an on-call stylist to ask for unbiased advice; eh hem, it's coming). A classic bootcut jean (fitted through the thigh, leg, and then has a little volume at the hem) is going to be your best friend.
The rest: If the heel scares you for day, hem the jeans and go with a classic ballet flat. The bag and earring stay simple so you can let the rest of the look do the talking for you. No need to add any distractions when you've got a good thing going on.
The ONE thing you need to know: If you're not in the mood for a boot-cut jean and feel more like bringing a skinny jean option into the equation, you're going to want to keep two things in mind. First, the sweater should fall a bit below your natural hourglass waist. If it hits right at the waist, you may be bringing too much attention to your top half and throwing off the balance when you wear skinny jeans below. Second, the ankle boot is a great option, but in the interest of elongating a bit more (the ankle boot will cut your vertical leg line off), try out a pump or stacked heel of some kind to keep it manageable while you're running around.
If something's sold out, you can check out other options in the Closet, just remember, you need to be a Member to get the keys!
