Review of the INIKA Organic BB Cream

Inika Organic BB Cream in Tan review

INIKA Organic BB Cream in Tan - $44.99

Here’s the quick SCORECARD breakdown. Each question is rated on a scale of 1 to 5, 5 being the best:

1. How do the ingredients look (EWG.org ratings)?- 5: So good. It makes me wonder why I’d need a foundation if I have this BB cream?!

2. How’s coverage?- 5: Skin still looks like skin! This powder is super fine and silky. It offers a light to medium coverage, and didn’t look ‘cakey’ on my skin at all.

3. Does it last?- 4: It stuck around for the entire day when I set with a light dusting of setting powder. It’s not 100% necessary, but it helps my combination skin. If you’re oily, you will want to consider lightly setting.

4. Is it non-irritating?- 5: No issues here!

5. Does it build and blend well with other products?- 5: Yes. It works really well with everything I have on underneath (primer) and product I dust on top (bronzer). It builds to a point, but it is possible, but meant to be used as lighter coverage anyway!

6. Is the shade range inclusive?- 3: Eight shades, not enough, but it’s a start!

7. How conscious is the brand? 3- Organic, cruelty-free, vegan, all the things EXCEPT, although this container is recyclable, it isn’t created from recycled materials so it’s not fully sustainable YET! The brand is working on it.

FINAL SCORE:

25/35

YOU’LL LOVE THIS IF:

  • You’re looking for lightweight coverage that evens out skin tone

  • You’re interested in light to medium coverage

  • You’re ok with an interesting scent lol. To me, it smells like paper supples. I have no idea why, but it’s odd. Still, it dissipates and doesn’t bother me within a minute of applying

  • You have combination skin, or if you have oily skin, you’re cool with a light dusting of setting powder (a layer of powder foundation will also add some additional coverage just incase you need it)

IFFY INGREDIENTS + EWG RATING:

These were the not-so-great ingredients that didn’t pass the Rule of 3. Click below to find out all the details:

  • Ultramarines [1-4] - Click the link to read more!

  • FYI: it’s less than a ‘3’ on EWG, but Titanium Dioxide is on the ingredients list. For some, that’s a big, ole’ ‘NO.’ I’m still OK with it at this point, but wanted to let you know!

TIP: Percentage matters. It wasn’t listed on the label. I always recommend, if you’re still on the fence, ask the brand “what’s inside?”

FINAL VERDICT:

Would I recommend this product to a friend? Oh yea, absolutely.

Would I repurchase this product? Yes, as a matter of fact, I already have bought my second bottle. That said, I’m personally looking for more sustainable packaging so unless INIKA gets there before I use up my second bottle, I’ll probably buy something else next time. Caveat: unless I can’t find anything that works as well. But I usually can!
