Review of the Clove + Hallow Liquid Skin Tint

Review of the Clove and Hallow Liquid Skin Tint

Clove + Hallow Liquid Skin Tint- $26.00

Here’s the quick SCORECARD breakdown. Each question is rated on a scale of 1 to 5, 5 being the best:

1. How do the ingredients look (EWG.org ratings)?- 3: Lots of ingredients at “2” and “3.” Three of primary concern: Dimethicone, Potassium Sorbate, and Sodium Benzoate, which could potentially be irritating and also not eco-friendly (Dimethicone specifically).

2. How is coverage?- 5: Nailed it on performance here! The brand says you will get a “demi-matte, lightweight medium coverage,” and they deliver on their promise. Skin looks like skin!

3. Does it last?- 5: Oh yea. This was super impressive. I tried it with and without setting. In both instances, the product still looked fresh at the end of the day.

4. Is it non-irritating?- 3: Review the ingredients list below. Be informed, not afraid! Definitely dig a bit further if you have sensitive skin!

5. Does it build and blend well?- 5: Again, nailed it on coverage and overall performance. I wore this with several layers and saw no streaking of odd settling into pores or fine lines.

6. Is the shade range inclusive?- 4: 12 shades is respectable!

7. How conscious is the brand? 3- I’m still waiting to hear back on packaging which, right now, looks and feels like plastic. It is however cruelty-free and vegan, so that’s a plus!

FINAL SCORE:

YOU’LL LOVE THIS IF:

  • You’re “ok” with Dimethicone. I speak about it in the video quite a bit so make sure to watch if you’re on the fence. Also, I found a GREAT article about it if you want more info. Credo Beauty, an organization I watch, isn’t super-concerned about Dimethicone, but that doesn’t mean we should take what others say at face value. Plus, it’s kind of fun to dig in (just me? lol)

  • You don’t have overly sensitive skin and are looking for a semi-matte foundation that feels weightless on and does a great job with medium coverage

  • I also go into my personal choice to NOT repurchase this in the video in case you’re interested :)

IFFY INGREDIENTS + EWG RATING:

These were the not-so-great ingredients that didn’t pass the Rule of 3. Click below to find out all the details:

TIP: Percentage matters. It wasn’t listed on the label. I always recommend, if you’re still on the fence, ask the brand “what’s inside?”

It looks like it will be too dark, but it blended in flawlessly. I couldn’t even tell it was there!
